Hey there, and welcome back to the podcast. I’m so glad you’re here. Today’s episode is a simple but honest question—Does God hear our cry?
Maybe you’re asking this with tears in your eyes right now.
Maybe you’ve been in a long season of waiting, or silence, or heartbreak.
And you just want to know: Is God listening?
Let’s talk about that today—with honesty, with scripture, and with hope.
The Cry That Comes from the Deep
There are times when our prayers are poetic, filled with thanks and praise.
And then… there are the times when all we can do is cry out.
Maybe it’s a whispered, “Help me, God.”
Or maybe it’s silence—because the pain is too deep for words.
And here’s the truth, right from God’s Word:
Psalm 34:17 says,
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.”
Yes, He hears.
Not just the prayers we speak aloud… but the ones we can’t even form.
In Exodus 3:7, when God spoke to Moses about the suffering of His people in Egypt, He said:
“I have indeed seen the misery of my people... I have heard them crying out... and I am concerned about their suffering.”
Seen. Heard. Moved.
God isn’t distant from our pain.
He’s close.
Closer than we feel.
Even when it’s quiet.
But What About the Silence?
Let’s be real—sometimes it feels like God is silent.
We pray and nothing changes.
We cry and the answer doesn’t come right away.
That doesn’t mean He’s not listening.
That doesn’t mean He doesn’t care.
Sometimes, the silence is a space where God is working things we can’t yet see.
Psalm 56:8 says,
“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”
That verse wrecks me every time.
Not a single tear wasted.
Not a single cry ignored.
When God Responds
God responds in His time—and in His way.
Sometimes He brings breakthrough.
Sometimes He brings peace in the waiting.
And sometimes… He brings people to walk with us while we wait.
Isaiah 30:19 says,
“How gracious He will be when you cry for help! As soon as He hears, He will answer you.”
He’s not delayed because He’s distant.
He’s patient because He’s wise.
He’s shaping us in the waiting.
But He does answer.
Your Cry is Sacred
If you’re hurting right now—if you’re crying out—I want to say this as clearly as I can:
God sees you.
God hears you.
And God cares.
Sometimes, your cry is the prayer.
And that prayer moves the heart of God.
Romans 8:26 says,
“The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
Even when you don’t have the words—He hears.
Even when all you can do is sit in silence—He’s near.
Closing Words
So does God hear our cry?
Yes.
He hears it, He holds it, and He responds to it—sometimes in ways we never expected.
Don’t give up.
Don’t stop crying out.
Even if your voice is shaking. Even if all you have is tears. He’s listening. He’s moving. And He loves you more than you know.
Until next time, keep your heart open. Keep your faith alive. And remember—you are not crying alone.
