Todayโs topic is simple, but powerful: Do not worryโGod is in control. Now, that might sound like one of those Christian bumper sticker phrases. But I want us to take a few minutes and really unpack what it means to live like we believe God is actually in control.
Letโs Be Honest About Worry
Letโs start with the obviousโwe all worry. About money, health, our kids, the future, our relationships, our purposeโฆ the list is long. Worry creeps in like a whisper and before we know it, itโs shouting louder than truth.
But Jesus didnโt ignore worryโHe spoke right into it.
In Matthew 6, Jesus says:
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life… Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them… Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” (Matthew 6:25โ27, NIV)
He wasnโt dismissing our fearsโHe was inviting us to a better perspective.
God Sees What You Donโt
Hereโs the thing: Worry comes when we try to control what we were never meant to carry.
But God sees the whole pictureโpast, present, and future. He sees whatโs ahead of you, and He’s already working on your behalf.
Think of the stories in Scripture: Joseph went from a pit to a prison to a palace. Esther was placed in a royal position โfor such a time as this.โ Even Jesus, facing the cross, surrendered, saying โNot my will, but Yours be done.โ
God was always in controlโeven when it didnโt look like it.
Trusting Doesnโt Mean Ignoring the Storm
Itโs okay to acknowledge the storm. Trusting God doesnโt mean pretending everythingโs fine. It means saying: โThis is hard. This hurts. But I know who holds me.โ
Psalm 46:10 reminds us:
โBe still and know that I am God.โ
Not โbe busy and fix everything.โ
Not โbe anxious and spiral.โ
Just be stillโand know.
There is peace in surrender. Not in giving up, but in giving it to God.
So, What Can You Do When You Start to Worry?
Let me leave you with three practical things:
-
Pause and Breathe.
When anxiety rises, pause. Take a deep breath. Say His name. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is stop and breathe in His presence. -
Pray Honestly.
Tell God exactly what youโre worried about. Philippians 4:6 says:โDo not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.โ
-
Practice Reminding Yourself.
Post Scripture. Write down testimonies. Surround yourself with reminders that Heโs faithful. Because He is.
Final Encouragement
Friend, I donโt know what you’re walking through right nowโbut I do know this: You are not alone. And the God who hung the stars in place? Heโs holding you, too.
So today, whatever comes your way, I pray youโll hold on to this truth:
Donโt worryโGod is in control.
Thanks for listening today. If this encouraged you, share it with someone who needs it. And as alwaysโstay rooted, stay hopeful, and remember: Heโs got you.
Until next time, be blessed.
