Hey there, and welcome back to the podcast. Iโm so glad youโre here. Todayโs episode is a simple but honest questionโDoes God hear our cry?
Maybe youโre asking this with tears in your eyes right now.
Maybe youโve been in a long season of waiting, or silence, or heartbreak.
And you just want to know: Is God listening?
Letโs talk about that todayโwith honesty, with scripture, and with hope.
The Cry That Comes from the Deep
There are times when our prayers are poetic, filled with thanks and praise.
And thenโฆ there are the times when all we can do is cry out.
Maybe itโs a whispered, โHelp me, God.โ
Or maybe itโs silenceโbecause the pain is too deep for words.
And hereโs the truth, right from Godโs Word:
Psalm 34:17 says,
โThe righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.โ
Yes, He hears.
Not just the prayers we speak aloudโฆ but the ones we canโt even form.
In Exodus 3:7, when God spoke to Moses about the suffering of His people in Egypt, He said:
โI have indeed seen the misery of my people... I have heard them crying out... and I am concerned about their suffering.โ
Seen. Heard. Moved.
God isnโt distant from our pain.
Heโs close.
Closer than we feel.
Even when itโs quiet.
But What About the Silence?
Letโs be realโsometimes it feels like God is silent.
We pray and nothing changes.
We cry and the answer doesnโt come right away.
That doesnโt mean Heโs not listening.
That doesnโt mean He doesnโt care.
Sometimes, the silence is a space where God is working things we canโt yet see.
Psalm 56:8 says,
โYou keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.โ
That verse wrecks me every time.
Not a single tear wasted.
Not a single cry ignored.
When God Responds
God responds in His timeโand in His way.
Sometimes He brings breakthrough.
Sometimes He brings peace in the waiting.
And sometimesโฆ He brings people to walk with us while we wait.
Isaiah 30:19 says,
โHow gracious He will be when you cry for help! As soon as He hears, He will answer you.โ
Heโs not delayed because Heโs distant.
Heโs patient because Heโs wise.
Heโs shaping us in the waiting.
But He does answer.
Your Cry is Sacred
If youโre hurting right nowโif youโre crying outโI want to say this as clearly as I can:
God sees you.
God hears you.
And God cares.
Sometimes, your cry is the prayer.
And that prayer moves the heart of God.
Romans 8:26 says,
โThe Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.โ
Even when you donโt have the wordsโHe hears.
Even when all you can do is sit in silenceโHeโs near.
Closing Words
So does God hear our cry?
Yes.
He hears it, He holds it, and He responds to itโsometimes in ways we never expected.
Donโt give up.
Donโt stop crying out.
Even if your voice is shaking. Even if all you have is tears. Heโs listening. Heโs moving. And He loves you more than you know.
Until next time, keep your heart open. Keep your faith alive. And rememberโyou are not crying alone.
